Raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications from Oral Roberts University, and spent over 12 years in the radio broadcasting industry, both on-air and in station management. Jim became interested in the real estate profession, and sold residential and commercial properties in Northeastern Oklahoma in the mid to late 1980's. It was during this time that Jim decided to attend law school, which he began in 1989 while maintaining full-time employment to support his family. Jim received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in December, 1992, and was a visiting scholar at the Southern Methodist University Law School in 1990-1991.
