Bio: Joseph P. “Joe” Bowman was raised in Franklin County, Kentucky, the son of Joyce and the late Robert A. Bowman, a local attorney. He graduated from Franklin County High School, with honors. He went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky (1997, cum laude) and the UK College of Law (2004). While at UK Law, he excelled at the mock trial and appellate exercises, was a member of the National Moot Court Team, participated in the collegiate tournament in Richmond, Virginia and the Vanderbuilt University First Amendment Competition in Nashville, Tennessee where he was a semi-finalist and awarded runner-up best brief. Joe also received recognition in academics in trial advocacy and energy law courses and was honored as the 2003 recipient of the Luke Woodward Achievement in Oral Advocacy Award. While in school, Joe also interned with Fayette Commonwealth Attorney Ray Larson. Upon earning his Juris Doctor and passing the bar examination, Joe completed a one year clerkship with Honorable Roger Crittenden, Franklin Circuit Court Judge and then worked as an associate attorney for the general litigation firm, Johnson, True & Guarnieri before entering a ten year tenure n civil service for the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) Department of Alcoholic Beverages Control (ABC) and the Kentucky retirement Systems (KRS).
