Bio: Joe Suhre is the owner and principal of Suhre & Associates, LLC. Joe has dedicated his practice to the defense of OVI cases. Joe has over 19 years of criminal defense experience and 5 years of experience as a police officer. He has handled hundreds of DUI cases before dozens of judges. Because of this, Joe is uniquely qualified to defend his clients against DUI and criminal charges. Joe began his legal career on the “other side of the fence” as a police officer. His experience and training as a police officer gives Joe a perspective not held by many other attorneys. When presented with a DUI charge, the first place Joe looks is to the actions of the police officer. He uses his knowledge of police practices and training standards to uncover missteps made by the arresting officer. In addition to the training Joe received in the police academy and in the field, he also continued his training as an attorney by becoming certified in the NHTSA administration of standardized field sobriety tests. Joe went on to receive advanced training by becoming ARIDE certified. ARIDE stands for Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement. Both the NHTSA and ARIDE standards are what the police are trained to use on a national basis. By being certified in both of the standards, Joe is able to analyze what the police did with the knowledge of what they’re supposed to have done – that way he can provide a better defense for his clients.
