Bio:Shayla D. Blankenship graduated from Olivet College in 1998 with a B.A. in English and Sociology/Anthropology. In January of 2002, Shayla graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, cum laude. After graduating from law school, Shayla worked for Legal Services of Eastern Michigan in Flint, and then the Underground Railroad in Saginaw before entering private practice. In addition to serving on the Board of the Center for Civil Justice, Shayla is actively involved in the Genesee County Legal Community. She has been a member of the American Inns of Court since 2004, and has served for two years as the Chair of the Family Law Section of the Genesee County Bar Association. Shayla is also on the Board of the Genesee County Bar Association, and she has recently been elected to the Representative Assembly of the State Bar of Michigan. Shayla handles several areas of law, including criminal matters, contract law, and mediation services, however her practice is primarily focused on domestic relations matters involving divorce, child custody, parenting time, and the like.
