In 1975, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University Of Maryland School Of Law, where he won the American Jurisprudence Award for Equity. In the 1980s, Mr. Schmidt was chosen by Us Magazine as one of the 35 most promising American's under the age of 35. Since then, he has co-authored two books, How to Market Your Law Practice (Aspen Press) and Consumer Revenge (G.P. Putnams & Sons). Mr. Schmidt is the founder of the first legal clinic on the East Coast, as well as founding partner in the first law firm to advertise in Maryland. Additionally, he has appeared on over 50 radio and television shows as both an author and legal commentator. Mr. Schmidt is a past member of the American and Baltimore City Bar Associations, and has served on both charitable and corporate boards in the Baltimore area. He is married and is a father to two active teenagers, Ricky and Tara. His hobbies include sailing, golf, and tennis and playing with the family's two French Bulldogs, Romeo and Juliet.
