Bio:In 2005 Matt Dalton published a book with Simon and Schuster entitled Presumed Guilty, What the Jury Never Knew About Laci Peterson's Murder and Why Scott Peterson Should Not Be on Death Row. The book describes Matt Dalton's six-month investigation into the disappearance of Laci Peterson. Over 100 Modesto police officers took reports related to the case. One lead detective decided which reports would receive follow-up investigation. If the report didn't relate to this detective's theory against Scott Peterson, then it was ignored or deflected. The real killers were in the police reports but missed by the lead detective. Dalton wrote Presumed Guilty with full support and assistance from Scott and his parents. Dalton never violated a gag order and was never fired from the case. False stories like these about Scott Peterson prejudiced the jury pool against him resulting in his death sentence.
