Bio:Mr. Cortizas served as City Attorney for the City of New Orleans for three years, where he was responsible for directing and supervising legal affairs for the City of New Orleans. As City Attorney, Mr. Cortizas oversaw a turnaround of the contracting process of the Law Department and was part of the team that negotiated the New Orleans Police Department consent decrees. He served as Executive Counsel to Mayor Mitch Landrieu from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Cortizas practiced law with Jones Walker for six years. Before practicing law, Mr. Cortizas was the Regional Director for U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, where he was responsible for the local and state legislative agenda. He acted as the liaison between the Senator and local state officials, and was the Senator's local community representative.
