Bio: Prior to joining Whittel & Melton, Mr. Ezzell attended law school at the University of Alabama School of Law, and has served as a trial attorney with two Offices of the State Attorney and the Office of Regional Counsel since his admission to the Florida Bar in 2002. While working as an attorney, he also completed a Master's degree in History from the University of Florida in 2015, with a concentration in 20thcentury American criminal justice. Over Mr. Ezzell's career he has been published in peer-reviewed journals three times. As a practicing trial attorney for the past seventeen years, Mr. Ezzell has had the opportunity to handle every type of criminal litigation, from the smallest of misdemeanors to the most complex of felonies and homicides. In 2009, he was honored by the Gainesville Child Advocacy Center with their annual award for 'Excellence in Service to Children'; and in the mid-2000s, when the State Attorney's Office decided to make the shift to a 'file less'/'paperless' office, he was one of two felony attorneys selected to test-drive and troubleshoot the technology of that new system.
