Bio:AV Preeminent | Harris Brumer is a 1997 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served on active duty for six years as a military intelligence officer and was stationed with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In 2002, he earned a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, while still on active duty. Mr. Brumer left the Army as a Captain in 2003 and attended law school locally in San Diego at The Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Upon graduation from law school in 2006, Mr. Brumer worked in both criminal defense and in bankruptcy law at two private firms in San Diego. In 2010, he began work as the civilian Director of Legal Assistance at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Legal Assistance is a free service that is offered to all active duty personnel, their dependents, and military retirees. At Miramar, he handled practically all civil matters, to include: Family Law, Landlord/Tenant law, Consumer Law, Bankruptcy, and Federal Civil Rights (SCRA, USERRA, etc.). However, during this time, Mr. Brumer developed a true passion for Family Law and aggressively represented hundreds of clients in divorces, support cases, child custody matters, move-away orders, and domestic violence cases.
