Bio:Ms. Eleanor Lewis received her undergraduate degree from the University of Leeds in the U.K. in 2007, graduating with first class honors in Spanish. She then completed a degree in Latin American Studies at the University of Florida, during which she spent three months living and researching in Nicaragua.In 2014, Ms. Lewis completed her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, focusing her legal education on immigration and human rights issues. During law school she served as Vice President of the Asylum Law Project, and represented immigration clients as a student attorney and student director in the law school's Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. She spent a summer working on women's human rights at the Advocates for Human Rights in Minneapolis and represented the law school at the regional rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court competition. She also spent a year working for the pro-bono department of a large law firm in Minneapolis, where she focused on preparing U visa applications for victims of crimes.After obtaining her law degree, Ms. Lewis helped Spanish and English speaking clients obtain U-visas and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and advised clients on consular processing for relatives in Mexico who had been granted U.S. visas. Ms. Lewis is admitted to practice in Minnesota and is a member of the federal bar for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. She speaks Spanish.
