Bio:Although not born here (I was born in Dothan, Alabama), I've called Manatee County home for most of my life. Since moving here from the Florida Panhandle at age ten, I attended high school at Palmetto High and then received my bachelor's degree in History from the University of South Florida in 2005. From there, I realized my life's ambition of becoming an attorney in 2008 when I earned my law degree from Stetson University's College of Law which is just up the road in Gulfport, Florida. That same year I began my legal career by becoming a prosecutor in the State Attorney's Office of the 12th Judicial Circuit (which covers Manatee, Sarasota & DeSoto counties) under former State Attorney Earl Moreland. I spent my time as an Assistant State Attorney aggressively litigating drunk driving and battery cases. After nearly two years there, I joined the 12th Judicial Circuit's Office of the Public Defender and spent the next three years as an Assistant Public Defender under the Honorable Larry Eger. As a Public Defender, I further honed my courtroom and litigation skills and also gained the valuable perspective of having practiced both sides of the field. This rounded legal experience has taught me to be an aggressive advocate for my clients. I have personally both prosecuted and defended hundreds of drunk driving and other traffic and injury cases. I have worked in both misdemeanor court and in felony court. I have conducted thousands of depositions and case investigations.
