During the latter part of his tenure as a Deputy District Attorney, Russell exclusively handled felony-level Domestic Violence offenses and was the County Court Supervisor, where he oversaw three other prosecutors. Eventually, Russell decided that the time was right for him to return home to Northern Colorado, and he joined Ring & Associates as a Trial Attorney.
