Bio:Sofia N. Mochegova, ”Sonya,” was born in Russia and immigrated to the United States in 1999. She became a U.S. citizen in 2011. Sonya received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2006. Sonya continued her education in Biology at the University of California at Berkeley where she received Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2009. In 2010, Sonya relocated to North Carolina and joined Stubbs Cole Breedlove Prentis and Biggs as a legal assistant. Sonya enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of Law and received her law degree in December 2012. While in law school, Sofia completed over 100 hours of pro bono service and completed an externship with the United States Attorney’s Office, Middle District of North Carolina
