Bio: Ms. Meghan Herning is a fourth generation San Jose native. In 2009, she graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American and African History. While at UCSC, Ms. Herning completed a year-long study abroad program at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, one of the oldest universities in the world. While at UCSC, Ms. Herning took courses in Brazilian Portuguese and led her college Mock Trial team to Nationals. In 2016, Ms. Herning received her Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List and was a recipient of the Faculty Merit Scholarship. Ms. Herning graduated from the Golden Gate University School of Law Honors Summer Trial and Evidence Program where she learned trial advocacy, motion practice, litigation skills, evidence in the courtroom, presentation and persuasion, and brief writing. Ms. Herning was also a member of GGU’s National Trial Team, served as an editor for the Environmental Law Journal, and interned at the Alameda Public Defender’s Office. Ms. Herning was admitted to the California state bar in 2017 and then began practicing family law as well as criminal defense.
