Bio:Mr. Cooper has long been active in public interest organizations. He was co-chair of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law from 1993 to 1995. From 1981 to 1983 he was president of the Legal Aid Society. He chaired the board of Pro Bono Net from 2000 to 2010. He also chaired a task force of the New York City Bar Association studying employment opportunities for the previously incarcerated. At the request of New York's Chief Judge, he chaired the Legal Services Project, which sought permanent funding of civil legal services to the poor. He chaired the board of the New York State Lawyer Assistance Trust, is a director of Volunteers of Legal Service, Inc. and an emeritus member of the Vance Center Advisory Board. Mr. Cooper is also active in Harvard Law School alumni affairs, serving on the Board of Overseers Committee to Visit the Law School and having been president of the Harvard Law School Association of New York City and chaired the Harvard Law School Fund. He is currently Co-Chair of the Harvard Law School Senior Advisory Network.
