While participating in the Clinic he spoke as a panelist at the 2012 Chapel Hill Human Rights Conference on immigrant human rights issues. He also served as an Articles Editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation and received the Weisburd Award for exceptional leadership and commitment to the Journal. During law school he interned with a number of different organizations and gained experience in working with Spanish-speaking clients. In addition, he worked as a summer associate with large and small law firms on business immigration matters and complex commercial litigation issues. Mr. Thie received a B.A., magna cum laude, from Wofford College in 2009. He majored in Spanish with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and has spent extensive time in Mexico and South America.
