I am supporting my aunt on a difficult conservatorship case. My attorney has not been supportive, failing to take issue as I requested against the false, slanderous, and perjurious accusations against me and my wife's care that was used to impose a conservatorship on my aunt. I explained to my attorney that I was looking for a second opinion. So I called Kristof and Kristof for a consultation appointment. The individual on the phone responded to my request and started asking me a series of unexpected and personal questions. She also told me that the phone call WAS the consultation. Her questions had a negative bias toward me, such as whether I paid rent without her inquiring for the reason or the situation. My aunt had insisted that I not pay rent, but wanted us to be there to take care of her. So me and my wife, an experienced professional RN, took care of all her needs round the clock. This alone saved my aunt on caregiving costs, about $25K per month, and involved a lot more than what a caregiver could possibly provide. When the interviewer checked my aunt's law case, she noticed that I already had an attorney, and when I started to explain my problem with him she wrote that off and declined to handle the case. My complaint is not that Kristof and Kristof rejected to handle this case. I respect such a decision and have a number of such results from other attorneys. But I wasn't asking for another attorney as the interviewer seemed to assume. I was first looking for professional advice on how to proceed which could have been valuable for the protection of my aunt's care.
