Practice Area: A life long Florida native, born in a solid blue-collar suburb, from a young age Michael understood the value of hard work, learning with his father in the construction industry. His sense of service and helping others inspired him to join the military. Michael supported combat search-and-rescue, and counter-terrorism operations as a United States Air Force airborne electronic communications specialist aboard H/C-130/p aircraft.
Michael is a fighter who was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, North Africa, and to disaster relief operations around the world; he was recognized as the 2005 Airman of The Year. He also received numerous decorations while serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. His unit was one of the first that was deployed to New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina relief operations.
During law school, Michael focused on trial and litigation courses, earning the highest grade in Evidence, Trial Practice, and Advanced Trial Practice, as well as winning numerous national appellate advocacy competitions.
During and after law school, Michael worked in the Ninth Circuit State Attorney’s Office, where he successfully conducted numerous trials from start to finish. During this time he trained with multiple police agencies on police procedures, and on protocol in Florida Department of Law Enforcement courses.
After his time at the State Attorney’s Office, Michael worked for a top civil trial firm, which represented Fortune 500 auto manufacturers in roll-over crashes, and tire manufacturers in blow-out cases resulting in death or great bodily harm. He also handled all of the firm’s criminal matters. Michael saw first-hand how the rich and powerful can use their unlimited money and resources to bury the little guy.
Michael has also seen how the Government, and overzealous state prosecutors, can use their power to destroy the lives and families of people who cannot afford an aggressive defense attorney, or who inadvertently select a defense attorney who wants to make a quick buck.
Michael is a strong supporter of the U.S. Constitution, and believes that great defense attorneys can serve as a check on the Government. He also puts his money where his mouth is: He has taken complex felony criminal cases involving DNA evidence and private detectives pro bono, and has spent over $20,000 of his own money in building a strong defense in those pro bono criminal cases.
Michael maintains offices in both Orlando and Tampa, and is well-suited to the clientele in these areas. He has represented hundreds of individuals; his peers consider him a highly-skilled and hard-working attorney. He has provided both civil and criminal representation to high-ranking officers in all branches of the United States military, to city officials, firemen, police officers, doctors, nurses, school teachers, clergymen and local businessmen. He has mentored several attorneys and has provided both civil and criminal representation to attorneys as well.
Michael also practices all levels of Family law, as it is closely related to criminal law, and many of his criminal law clients specifically ask him to handle all of their future legal matters.
