About: Stephen T. Bowling is the founder of Austin, Texas-based Stephen T Bowling: DWI & Criminal Defense Attorneys. Focusing his practice on criminal defense matters, he provides representation to people throughout the state who have been charged with the commission of misdemeanors or felonies. Admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, Mr. Bowling also has experience representing plaintiffs in personal injury litigation.
Mr. Bowling places a significant emphasis on defending clients who have been charged with driving while intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. He has been able to successfully refute elements of the prosecution's evidence, including asserting that the initial traffic stop itself was not made with the requisite reasonable suspicion that a crime was being committed. Other challenges have been to the way that roadside sobriety tests were conducted as well as to the calibration of breath test machines. In addition to his DWI practice, Mr. Bowling has worked on cases involving domestic violence as well as drug possession and distribution. His successes in and out of the courtroom, including acquittals and dismissals as well as the negotiation of favorable plea agreements, have led a great deal of recognition from his fellow attorneys. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Bowling's experience there included missile systems operations and serving as a watch commander. His legal education was obtained at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2013. Mr. Bowling's professional memberships include the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
