Transitioning to rural South Carolina to attend Clemson University was initially short of a culture shock, but she quickly fell in love with the southern way of life. After earning her B.A. at Clemson with a minor in legal studies, she packed her bags and headed to Knoxville, Tennessee to pursue her law degree. While at Clemson, she was fortunate enough to be a part of the first mentorship program specifically geared toward pre-law students. Being able to shadow a family law attorney twice a week during her junior and senior years was not only eye-opening but also allowed her to realize she had an interest in family law. Following undergrad, she interned for South Carolina Legal Services in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was able to work with a variety of attorneys in various legal fields. During law school, Attorney Smith did everything she could to pursue a career in family law. She interned here at Rech Law, P.C. for two years, in which time she fully developed her passion for family law and the desire to help those in need. In addition to interning during law school, she also served on three executive boards and participated in a federal criminal trial practice class, which gave her hands-on experience writing pleadings and arguing in front of federal judges.
