David’s family emigrated to the U.S. from a fishing village in Dalmatia, an historical region of the eastern Adriatic – later to become one of the regions of Croatia, Slavonia, and Istria, following World War II. They came to America with a strong work ethic and the hope of a better future for their children, and David grew up in a loving, working class home where he learned the value of hard work, an education, and the importance of finishing what he started. Through these principles and his own dedication, David earned an academic scholarship from U.C.L.A. – becoming the first in his family to attend college. After graduating with his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, David took his ambitions to Washington D.C., where he quickly landed a job as a campaign research analyst. The two years David spent in the nation’s crucible of power instilled in him the desire to help people on a more fundamental level. So, he returned to Los Angeles, applied to law school, and was accepted at Pepperdine University School of Law. Always one to achieve his goals, David earned his Juris Doctorate in 1984, was admitted to the California Bar that same year, and joined his current law partner in 1986.
