Paid in full per contract prior to conclusion of legal work breach of contract and contract fraud. When I attempted to pay the fraud part that was not supposed to happen when legal fees secretly more than doubled after allegedly paid in full per contract requirement I pay in full in advance, I had to make payments for a reasonable period that otherwise would have been done by now. He then sued me immediately within a few days before anything further was due I learned of via third persons falsifying nonpayment. $20,000 in damages from the lawsuit blocking partial payment so he could falsify a lawsuit demanding only lump sum check only working me over so I would not be able to and sending PI's to harass at my home, clearly not trying to be paid. Harassed severely to make sure I would be without an attorney and unable to pay for one. Literally stating criminal intent framing his client to ruin his client's life maliciously and in retaliating n for attempting to dispute his bill at all, which is evidently what he does to any client who does clearly not in his contract or on nis wb=eb site but 100+ client lawsuits and cases on federal court as ugly as this. So plugged into Cook County public corruption that his entire procedure was literally an extremely illegal one sided monologue as all you will get in Cook through the reading o his resume etc for 4 horus s th esraciast 'trial". Malicious blocking of third party lawsuit to get at me personally as unable to write a lump sum check he clearly would have had otherwise long ago. if he had not and is clearly not needing he money or seeking to be paid with his lawsuits. Lied to the judge as why he refuses to write down billing amounts anywhere until after its too late for you to protect yourself. Rarely did work billed. Billed 11.25 for documents he had no idea what was in and claimed once he had never been sent. Nearly didn't even send the exhibits in for the procedure coming very very closet to passing deadline making unable to. Cronies are sending this person referrals without telling any of us about this that is not on his web site or on ARDC you have to search the court case listing for where most people would expect an attorney like this to be in discipline and to find out they do this to the public under their internet information. IL lets him to do this at ARDC too and his attorney crones including the cover up for him Cook judges block putting any of this into the court records and procedures to cover up for him. They also remove counterclaims and third party lawsuits and any defendant anything making the attorney someone you need to know not to shire or he will do this to you too repreadly over and over and over. In a nightmare that will never end for you either if you hire Joel Handler who somewhere in there claims he is a "good attorney" and doesn't get it that this part makes him a horrific one. Also the civil rights law expert that will tell you and writes it up that the entire Public Accommodations of the IL Human Rights ACt does not exist and does not apply to Handler, which when this starts with Handler immediately starts to be an issue he claims doesn't exist. Compared female clients to his office staff and claims same law applies to make that point. Which get far far worse from there. All you can do is efuse to hire Joel Handler or if he wants, he will do this to you too federal court listings have cases of him doing to client going back nearly 20 years on payment public records that is cronies referring people to is causing a lot of us not to search first as the only way you would find out he does this to all of his clients to some extent, and too many of them to this extreme.

This attorney has done to me what I did not locate when I had to hire an attorney fast illegally his peers don't seem to know he engages in when one of them referred him without any idea he does this. The internet defamation is also doing me huge damages and his bills weren't due and were in attempt to resolve to get him paid what he isn't owed as fast as possible anyway. He bills $625 a day for documents he has never read. He bills after he is terminated. He escalates if he gets paid. He is suing clients, seizing maintenance, and seizing escrow reportedly upon losing contingency cases. Attempting to resolve via BBB or ARDC results also in more frivolous malicious lawsuits claiming everybody else is 'fraud" clearly not. The first is not Handler filed but includes the breach of contract I have been given and clients finding on contingency he steals money. Sames story everywhere but only when you go this far. And my damages to date are a large fraction of the bill for what are mostly after allegedly paying him in full "document review" someone else said they did to him he also had no idea of what were in any of theirs either, and hs is obstructing a small claims lawsuit that would cover his entire legal not just the part that is in justified dispute I attempted to get up a payment plan for which is the law as far as the SOB had the right to and instead has continued to seek to cause extreme financial damage to his victims he has no business with at all the law allows. 05C6812 NIL US Handler vs Nielsen 17 B 17860, 17A00471 Handler vs Johnson Sr et all 1:2014cv02581 Handler v. Sometimes the winning the war is more important than winning the battle that may cause this attorney to be something you have to live with but it should be with the understanding this is going to then happen to you to so that you are prepared, have another attorney to protect you in advance because of the theatrical no notice no information no service and internet defamation you will get hit with, and make sure he is removed from scam billing theatrics to third persons like this. Because the problem is you will need a court to stop him from billing you additional hours until there is a court order to terminate him. Where as excessive legal fees are something people sometimes have to pay, but are finite and end when the cases do.

Hired Mr. Handler for a divorce, he talks a good game but doesn't follow through. Lack of communication, incompetent to get anything accomplished such as motions - Always unprepared,forgetful and late quite often. He is unaccountable for his actions or lack of taking action. My divorce was over May 23rd I was awarded a little money, maintenance and a car - the ex refused to give me keys or title to car - didn't pay me the money until July, when Mr. Handler went and picked up a check for the amount. He collected no late fees etc. When I questioned his invoicing practice he sued me. He was paid monthly until June. In my research he has sued over a 100 of his clients....that alone should be a red flag of just the type of individual he is. I have so much documentation etc of his wrongful doing - too much to put on here. So be warned - learn from my mistake and it was a costly one.
     Jacqueline Scuito - 1/29/2018 - Update Joel Handler is withholding checks from me, he refuses to even produce proof he has them. At court he screamed at me in front of the judge "IF SHE WANTS A WAR SHE'LL GET ONE". He is a bully, a liar and now a crook. He is unethical and will do nothing but look for ways to take your money. Please feel free to contact me if you have had an experience such as I have had, it is time to bring this time of behavior in the family court to end. He took an oath and instead of doing the best for his clients he does nothing. Please do your research, do not let this happen to you. My ex husband was allowed to keep all the money, because Joel refused to follow up on notice to compel. He waited so long to address anything. When I notified him I was harassed in my own home by my ex - he did nothing. This went on for 2 months with Joel doing nothing after I literally begged him to step in and assist me from harms way. - flag
