Gonzales, 497 F.3d 927 (9th Cir. 2007) (an individual who reasonably relied on eligibility and existing defensive application to stop deportation when applying for naturalization, remained eligible for defense from deportation upon denial of naturalization despite the defense application’s subsequent repeal). Mr. Ayala was the 2007-2008 Chair of the Southern California Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association and helped organize the Southern California Raid Response Network to provide immediate aid to victims of mass employment raids.
