That’s nearly four decades of operating under an unregistered assumed business name, violating ORS § 648.007. After Fern Eng’s death in 2012, the firm name continued without legal dissolution, partnership filings, or structural legitimacy—yet appeared routinely on pleadings, invoices, and courtroom documents, projecting false credibility. The 2019 registration wasn’t retroactive, meaning every use of “Neal & Eng” from 1980 to 2019 is a traceable instance of unauthorized representation—a breadcrumb trail of entity fraud spanning: • Court filings • Legal billing • Arbitration • Government correspondence • Client documents All under a firm title that, legally, didn’t exist.
