I was an Assistant DA in Dallas County from 1979-1982, and thereafter entered private practice mainly in Dallas County. Starting in 1997 I gradually increased my practice in Tarrant County to the point that most of the cases I handle now are in Tarrant County rather than Dallas County. I am on the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel for federal court appointments in the Dallas and Fort Worth divisions of the Northern District of Texas where I do both trial and appellate work as well as federal writs. In Tarrant county I am court-appointed to cases in the county criminal courts and district courts. State and federal court appointments together constitute a little more than half of all the cases I handle. The rest of my cases involve people who hire me to represent them in court.
