Attorney Cox has provided information on her law firm website about being an arbitration panel member at the American Arbitration Association (AAA). The parties hired her in 2020 to be an arbitrator in a case at the American Arbitration Association. The law gives arbitrators wide discretion to act in an arbitration and also gives arbitrators judicial immunity. Arbitrator Cox did not follow certain specific rules of the AAA, even when it was pointed out to her that they weren’t complied with. The parties agreed to the rules of the AAA, if they aren’t followed, what’s the point? Arbitrator Cox also didn’t follow certain written Orders that she wrote and gave to the parties, even when notice was provided to her (including filed attorney motions containing evidence) that her Orders were not complied with. Although more than 20 documents were admitted into evidence and there were 5 full days of testimony with multiple witnesses under oath, her written ruling on the substance of the case was 2 pages in length and she didn’t address the specific documents or testimony that were admitted by her into evidence to explain the basis of each of her conclusions. Her final ruling was also contrary to the arbitrator’s ruling who issued an injunction at the beginning of the arbitration, and he supported his injunction with an 8 page, written analysis of the facts and law supporting it. Would not hire Carla S. Cox again under any circumstances, or at any hourly rate, even if it was much less than other rates offered by potential arbitrators. Another case involving her is V.S.
