Bio:Hurman Sims received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1966 and 1969. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1989 and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel while serving as a general court-martial judge at Camp Lejeune, N.C. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1968 and the North Carolina Bar in 1988 and has been in private practice in Jacksonville, North Carolina since 1989. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association with section memberships in Family Law, Criminal Law, and Bankruptcy. He is a member of the Onslow County Bar Association and served as President in 2010. He has been peer rated since 2012 and has received the highest possible rating in legal ability and ethical standards. He is also a family financial mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.
