John J. Lamb sold out me and my family for personal gain. We had a problem with a borough official who was using his position to conduct a personal vendetta against me and other friends of the man who recommended that the borough not hire him. We were in the middle of a major gut-renovation of our home in the borough. Our first attorney, on being provided with evidence, told us that no matter what we found she would not file suit against a town and we would never fid an attorney who would. Five interviews later, we were recommended to the firm of Beattie Padovano who told us they would have no problem filing suit. Originally, our case was assigned to Dean Obeidallah who had previously had a problem with the same official. Later, Dean left the firm to pursue a career in comedy and our case was assigned to John J. Lamb. Over the next 4 years we continued to have problems with the same borough official. Over that period, I found 4 other residents who were having problems for the same reason, a relationship with the person who recommended against hiring him. At that time, John told me "That's it, you've got him." He described the borough's position as indefensible and told us it was time to file. We made arrangements to sell our remaining home in Farmington ME. to a friend for $30k less than offered with the stipulation that we could buy it back once the lawsuit was over. I called John to let him know that we were selling the property to finance the suit and asked "Before I pull the trigger on this, how sure are you that we're going to win this?" The answer was "Frank, trust me. You can't loose." We sold our property in ME and became "Motel People" until the suit was settled. The funds were transferred into our account and the following week I called John to ask how much he needed to get the ball rolling. I didn't hear back for 4 days and when I finally got through he asked if I were sitting down as he had some bad news. He tied to tell me that since the official in question hadn't actually done anything for a couple of years that the statute of limitations had run out and we couldn't file. This didn't make sense as the statute of limitations was 3 years and the last problem with the borough was just over 2 years prior. John then told me that, though he could get into a lot of trouble for saying so, he was ordered to dump the case under threat of his job if he failed to do so. His exact words were "I was told, and I quote, make this go away." He edned the conversation telling me that I shouldn't waste any more money on attorneys because they would only do the same thing and wishing me good luck. We became residents of the Comfort Inn on Rte. 17 in Mahwah, NJ. That summer, my father collapsed in the motel room and went into the hospital for a quintupple cardiac bypass. There were complications. When he got out, thanks to John Lamb, he took convalescence not at his home but in a motel room. I will never forget the first day the visiting nurse showed up to check him, walked in the door and said incredulously, "You... live here?" Thanks to John J. Lamb and his total lack of empathy or conscience, we ended up losing our house in Glen Rock. We became pariahs because there was no one to stand up for us. My mother died never again having a home she could call her own but rather having to live under my cousin's charity. In 40+ years of being in the building trades, at least 4 times I have quit jobs when ordered to break the law or been asked to do something underhanded. So for me, being threatened with one's job is no excuse for what John Lamb did to us. If there is a god, I hope he forgives him because I never will and I'll never forget.
