Bio:I am admitted to practice in Illinois (1969) and Colorado (1976)(inactive) and before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Circuits.I have been in practice in Chicago since 1969, joining the Office of the Public Defender in 1970. In 1973 I began as head of the Appeals Division of that Office, responsible for some 60 attorneys, concentrating in appellate and criminal law. I left to become attorney in charge of litigation at Frank & Flaherty, Chartered and on leaving that firm, I was a consultant to the American Bar Association, charged with examining the implementation of the right to counsel across the United States, preparing a monograph titiled GIDEON REVISITED. By 1985, I opened my own law firm, called the Law Offices of John T. Moran & Associates. I was a paid consultant to the now Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Paul P. Biebel, Jr. while he was Acting Public Defender. By 1988, I had begun handling employment matters, from enforcement of written contracts to violations of the employment laws of the United States.
