I met Karie Rego on a Facebook page for injured patients. I wondered why she would have left a lucrative position at a large law firm, to try to get out of court settlements for people unable to get a medical malpracticelawyer. It seemed unethical to me that she was once a criminal defense attorney defending the hsopital that she then tried to negotiate a settlement against for me. I wondered because of some of the comments she made if she had health issues that caused this. I paid her thousands of dollars to do legal work for me, which she insisted was not legal representation. She gave me her legal opinion that settling with one doctor would not hurt my case. She then did work that I had told her that I did not want done, and charged me another $1000. She also asked me to help her husband find work. All this seemed a little off. What really hurts is that her legal advice to go ahead and settle with one doctor ended up destroying my whole case. I have to wonder about a person who would shaft an injured patient for just several thousand dollars, when winning the case in court would have been worth a lot more.
