Bio:Miguel De Grandy is the principal shareholder and the driving force behind the Firm. Mr. De Grandy honed his skills as an Assistant State Attorney in Floridas 11th Judicial Circuit, serving as lead prosecutor in dozens of jury trials. Mr. De Grandy developed a unique perspective on the governmental, regulatory, and administrative processes in the State of Florida through his years in leadership positions while serving as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, where he was the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee and served as Chairman of the Cuban-American Caucus of State Legislators (1992-1993). He was unanimously elected as an honorary member of the Florida State Conference of Black Legislators as a result of his sponsorship of the landmark Rosewood Claims Bill, adopted by the Florida Legislature in 1994 and the inspiration for the movie Rosewood. During the 1990-1992 Redistricting Cycle he served as lead plaintiff and co-counsel in De Grandy, et al v. Wetherell, a federal Voting Rights Act action against the Florida Legislature for violation of the federal voting rights of minority citizens in the State of Florida in the enacted Reapportionment Plan. The De Grandy Plaintiffs prevailed in that case, resulting in the imposition of a Court Ordered Reapportionment plan that for the first time in 100 years elected several black members of Congress from Florida and increased Floridas Hispanic representation in Congress.
