Bio:	I try to approach my cases by remembering that each case is about a family and not just a case file. In my opinion it is a family lawyer's job to work toward as amicable a resolution as possible without failing to advocate for the wants and needs of the client. In many cases healing can happen during the case and the parties complete the transition in their life with better communication. However, in some cases we do have to zealously advocate for a client in a poor situation, at which time it is our job to fight for our client's best interest. I also feel that it is my job to provide a client with all the options and potential consequences in a case. Unfortunately, that sometimes means correcting my own client, but people hire us to protect them, not to always tell them what they want to hear. (It comes better from me than a Judge!)
