In May 2000, he obtained the ninth largest verdict in patent law history ($55.2 million), which was affirmed by the Federal Circuit in 2001. In April 2009, Paul obtained the fifth largest verdict in patent law history ($388 million) in a suit against Microsoft for its infringement of a patent for an anti-piracy software registration system.
