Updated to comply with the Baldwin Law Firm's "CEASE AND DESIST" warning of "legal action against me": My opinion of The Baldwin Law Firm, LLC is to avoid hiring them. The firm never provided a written fee agreement during the 46 days I retained them. He stated my case would take an estimated 10 hours of his time. After three weeks, my first bill included charges for less then half the agreed flat fee I paid. After replacing the firm for poor service a month later, I received a bill at eight times the amount of the first bill for services totaling 39.5 hours which I disputed. In my opinion, they attempted to win a judgment without my knowledge. They lost their lawsuit against me in General District Court for lack of written contract, but appealed in Circuit Court and convinced a Judge to reverse the GDC decision because, based on a lawyer's comment to me after trial, I represented myself. They also keep a permanent copy of your credit card #, expiration date AND CVV2 code which is submitted to the courts as evidence. My credit card was compromised and closed by my bank. Through my research after he filed a lawsuit in 2012, I discovered the Fairfax GDC Online Case Information System and counted over 100 instances of warrant in debt type cases against former clients since 2007 which demonstrate, in my opinion, the amount of time spent on former clients while advertising family law practice for current clients. The Baldwin Law Firm displays in their email signature the Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award Winner - 2013. Martindale-Hubble Client review for "lawyers.com" is the only site that has not posted my review. I post this review to help others in avoiding my horrible experience with this firm so feel free to comment with contact info for more detail. Rick.
     The Baldwin Law Firm - 7/30/2013 - We are sorry that this reviewer was unhappy with our services, but he should not have written allegations against us that are demonstrably false. We cannot refute them, because to do so would violate the confidentiality of his case. We can say that we attempted to resolve our bill amicably with him for months. He ignored us, giving us no choice but to file suit. It was only then that his negative rating appeared online. A judge found that he was legally responsible for our fees and has entered a judgment against him for the full amount we sought. His response was to file even more negative comments about us and to spread them further across the internet. Finally, while he has vastly overstated the number of lawsuits we have filed against former clients in the past (by double-counting and triple-counting many such filings), it is true that, like any business, occasionally we have clients who don’t pay us, and when all else fails, we do seek redress in court. These filings represent a tiny fraction of the more than 6,500 clients whom we have proudly represented over the past 35 years. - flag

Mr. Baldwin failed to communicate his fees and charged me for services not agreed. He attempted to win a judgment without my knowledge. He has over 80 warrant in debt lawsuits against former clients since 2007. Avoid Mr. Roy Baldwin and Mr. Sam Leven.
