Bio:Andrew Thompson is a partner in the Environmental/Land Use section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP as well as a member of the firm's Sustainability Practice Group. Mr. Thompson's practice includes environmental and commercial litigation in state and federal court, as well as in state administrative court. He has represented and advised clients in connection with a range of environmental issues, including toxic tort litigation, Clean Water Act permitting and compliance, mold litigation, hazardous waste, groundwater contamination, environmental cleanup and emergency response, and other environmental matters. Mr. Thompson's representative experience includes serving as coordinating counsel overseeing U.S. toxic tort litigation for multinational corporations, acting as lead counsel in putative class and mass tort actions alleging groundwater contamination, and representing landlords and manufacturers in mold litigation, including obtaining one of the first of its kind Daubert rulings excluding plaintiff's medical causation testimony relating to alleged injuries from exposure to "toxic" mold. Mr. Thompson received his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in Politics from Wake Forest University in 1994, where he was a Carswell Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1997, he received his J.D., with distinction, from Emory University School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
