Bio:	My experiences with elder care started very early in my life. One holiday season, I went Christmas shopping with grandmother. While we were going down her list, I noticed my grandmother could not remember for whom she had bought gifts. Soon after, I found out she had Alzheimer’s disease. My grandmother already knew, but I wasn't told or at least did not understand until then. She declined rapidly. After she passed, my grandfather was left fighting his own demon–Parkinson’s disease. As he weakened, family ties became strained.Throughout this chapter in my life, I felt and saw what many families go through. I was the person worried about the professional care of a loved one. I witnessed my family sweat over how to pay for medical expenses, while balancing my grandfather’s need for comfort and his desire to maintain the legacy that he worked so hard to build. It was this early experience that helped me realize I could help other families by pursuing a career in the law. I specifically chose to study at Stetson University College of Law for its excellent Elder Law Concentration Program. Most of my professional and academic development went towards strengthening my knowledge in this field.Elder Law attorneys, like me, help families prepare for a phase in life where children become the caregivers to their parents.
