Bio:Elizabeth attended the University of Virginia where she majored in Foreign Affairs. After college, she spent time working for the National Outdoor Leadership School first in Mexico and then in Wyoming. During this time, Elizabeth applied to the Peace Corps. She was accepted and assigned to Costa Rica, where she served two years as a Children, Youth, and Families volunteer. As a volunteer, she started Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in her town, organized a national conference for adolescent girls focusing on life skills and health issues, and solidified her Spanish language skills. In 2006, Elizabeth started law school at the University of North Carolina. While attending UNC, Elizabeth served as chair of the Dean's Advisory Council to Dean Jack Boger, a law school representative to the Graduate and Professional Student Federation, and on the Academic Affairs Committee. Outside of school, Elizabeth gained legal experience working as a legal intern for North Carolina House of Representatives Speaker Joe Hackney, Legal Aid of North Carolina Farmworker Unit, and the San Francisco Office of the Public Defender.
