Jennifer communicates mainly by email, so it is important for you to plan your communications with her. My advice is to always send them early in the day and on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday when she is not in court. Each email will cost you ($29.50 in my case) to put her eyes on it, so don’t send unnecessary correspondence like, “Thank you for letting me know.” I was billed $127.50 for three emails between us that had little content or value in them. Jennifer was a poor communicator. By that I mean she talks in legal terms and not what a client may understand. So, unnecessary communication will probably result as was my experience. I requested a phone call to discuss my confusion with her and believed we cleared the air, but then soon back to the same old problem. She expects you to detail your responses but on several occasions I had to pull information out of her. As her client, I expected to pay for ‘legal advice’ but frequently felt I had to request it. She was very good at cutting and pasting my information into a letter to opposing counsel. But I thought I hired an attorney and not a legal clerk. To that end, be sure to learn from my mistakes and provide full and complete responses back to her. Don’t simply say, “Hell no” to this or that. Rather, explain what you don’t agree with, why, and your counter to the issue discussed. Anything less, you guessed it, is another email (charge). Just before a very crucial status meeting she quit on me and asks the court to withdraw as my attorney. Her excuse was ‘nature and tone’ of my emails. ‘Please’, ‘I don’t understand’, and ‘thank you’ must have intimidated her. Or, maybe it was the three ‘hell no’s’ I sent to her in response to opposing party changes to the MSA. No, I’m sure it was when I pointed out my billing concerns and informed her I would need to make payments. My recommendation would be to look somewhere else if you need a good lawyer. I never received the empathy I needed from her which I believe a good lawyer should provide. And, if you check the few reviews on her, she appears to have a history of withdrawing or threatening withdrawal.
