Bio:Criminal and DUI Defense Criminal Appeals Over 30 years experience      Karen Bird attended UCLA for her undergraduate work, receiving a cum laude Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981 and a Secondary Teaching Credential in 1982.  She then attended Loyola Law School where she was a member of the Scott Moot Court and Traynor Trial Advocacy teams.  She competed at the National level in Trial Advocacy.  She worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office as a certified law student.         Immediately after passing the bar exam in 1985, Karen began working at the Office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender.  She spent three years doing misdemeanor and felony trials and acting in a supervisory capacity.  She then worked at Parkinson Wolf Lazar and Leo, an insurance defense litigation firm, from 1988 to 1990.  During her time there, Karen supervised firm partners in developing their trial skills in criminal trials under appointment of the Superior Court.       In 1990, Karen moved her office to Torrance, practicing criminal and family law.  She was a member of a committee that advised and assisted the courts in handling of appointed criminal cases.  In 1993, she was joined by her husband George and created Bird & Bird, A Law Corporation. In 2015, George Bird was appointed to the bench and currently serves as a judge in the Southwest Judicial District of the Los Angeles Superior Court.                             In addition to the practice of law, Karen has b
